Vice Adm Girish Luthra, FOC-in-C West was the Chief Guest at CORCON-2017, an international conference and Expo on corrosion. The three day conference, has been organised by the India Section of National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE) International, and is being attended by more than 750 delegates from 20 countries. It aims to bring together professionals from industry, defence, government and academia, in order to exchange information about corrosion and corrosion management solutions. Inaugurating the conference, Vice Adm Luthra highlighted the 'Cost of Corrosion' for the Indian economy, which has been pegged at 4.2 percent of GDP by NACE International's 2016 IMPACT Study, and the need for enhancing corrosion management strategies and synergies, in order to enhance safety, productivity and cost-savings. He also presented the naval perspective with respect to tackling corrosion, and the management strategies and practices in vogue.
