The Western Naval Command undertook a Command level Operational Readiness Exercise for three days from 26-28 July 2017. The exercise was designed to test responses and validate Standard Operating Procedures of various operational authorities, Area Commanders, units and organisations in responding to an emergent situation and effecting transition of the Command from a state of peace to higher states of readiness. All ships, submarines, aircraft, repair agencies, testing and trials units and logistics support organisations of the Western Naval Command participated in this exercise. Repair organisations were tasked to compress refit timelines of ships and maintenance schedules of aircraft. The supply organisations provided ammunition, fuel, equipment spares and rations. Berthing facilities at Mumbai Port Trust and JNPT were also utilised to shorten timelines for preparing ships to full combat readiness.

The exercise was conducted across the Command and all naval stations from Okha, Porbandar, Gandhinagar, Mumbai, Karwar and Goa.
